April 6, 2012 Werewolf Ride

4 Apr

This Friday at 7:45, lets meet at the fountain on the Morristown Green and we will ride the Morristown Wolf Classic route.  Bring lights!  Hope to see you out there.

Pretty great turnout to this classic werewolf route. Of course, we had a really nice ride. Starting off with a pretty big hill we spread out a good bit, but no pressure…everyone regrouped at the top of Sugarloaf Road. We were far off the beaten path, no streetlights or much of anything besides forest along Sugarloaf. Next up is Lewis Morris Park. We swoop down the empty park access roads out to old 24. We rode single file along this busy road and make a left after a mile. Some rolling hills through beautiful countryside and we hopped on Patriots Path (a defunct railroad bed in this section). The trail starts off a bit rocky but gradually smooths out until we cross Sussex Tpk. The trail turns to pavement. This section is really fun, I shifted into high gear and kicked off the front of the group, tucked and rushing along… Fast at night feels extra fast! A couple more road crossings, more trail to Speedwell and back through town to the Green where we awarded two new lifetime memberships. Great riding everyone!

I was just looking out my window and wondering when the next full moon ride was, and now I know. I’m going to try to make this one!

I’m gonna do a bike ride to the High Point Brewery tomorrow (Saturday April 14th 2-4pm) for another tour of the place. I’m leaving from my house but if anyone else wants to go we could leave from the Denville clock around 12.00.
