Blue Moon Rising

There is a blue moon August 31… the night of Morristown Bike Ride and a bike in movie!   Lets ride after the movie.  Meet up behind town hall at 6:15 or at the Early Street Garden.  Bring Lights!  Where do you want to ride?

This ride started out with very fast jamming around town. The moon was awesome, it was a great night for a ride. We headed straight for some small hills. I think there were 15 of us but a mile later there were some people missing. We may have blown a stop sign and we did blow a red light. After we howled up a few more sharp little hills we settled down a bit and we had ourselves a very nice ride. A lifetime member led us to his buddies house (near the top of a small hill) who had his telescope aimed at the moon. What a great stop! We all took a closer look. We rode on through parts of Morristown I have not visited. A couple hills later a couple of riders turned off. We rode a bunch more. We blasted down Speedwell, taking the left lane and turning into the park. We zipped along nice blacktop Patriots Path trails along the Whippany River. Gravel along the abandoned railway got us up to Rt 24, and following the theme for the night, we lost a couple more riders as we took an unlit turn up Picatinny Rd, a very scenic climb. Eventually we Zoomed back down into Morristown for refreshments. I got home very late. This ride was a little hyper and disjointed compared to most other werewolf rides, I had a blast! Sorry to those who got dropped or lost. Thanks for riding!

  1. I agree. We can recruit the movie attendees to ride with us. Alert them ahead of time to let them know that the movie/ride are a package deal.

      2. It was a very nice night!
I use shimano generator hubs and iq cyo lights like these http://www.compasscycle.com/lighting.html
The beams are shaped to not blind oncoming traffic on roads. I have em permanently mounted to my bikes.
I’ve also used a dinotte 200 something. It was fine, but a round beam is not ideal for road riding.
I’m happy my spanninga tailights.. http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/spanninga.asp
I have not used the hl2000r but its likely very good.

    1. e-bay has some LED bike lights. The new XML LED is more efficient than CREE. I paid $85.00 for a MagicShine w/ Li-io battery, free delivery from North Carolina.
