Update:  We managed to link up a few nice old cemeteries to make for a pretty interesting ride.  Leaving Denville we passed through Gardner Field just in time to see a football player try a flying diving catch.  He missed, but it was really cool to be a few feet from a heroic effort like that!
We cruised around our first graveyard, kind of bright & noisy near the highway so we rode out of town on familiar roads heading for Ford Rd.  A lifetime member was dazzled by a headlamp and hit the pavement.  It sounded like he slid along a few feet but rider & bike were fine.  We hit the Ford Rd trail, some went for the twisty log infested singletrack through the pine forest (most of the trees fell during Sandy).

After climbing and descending Farber Hill we were astonished at the spooky beauty of the valley before us!   The moon lit up the fog that collected in the meadows behind the old wood fence.  The sight was classically scary in a ‘what is lurking out there’ kind of way, but totally beautiful.  The road was a little busy so we regretfully pushed on to the next graveyard.  This one is old.  We had some fun riding along the driveways through the gravestones and trying to scare each other, werewolves are not easily frightened.  We headed for Boonton and flew down Main Street, down the Morris Canal Inclined Plane 7 East then up the trail along the Rockaway River stopping to gawk at the falls of course.
Heading back home, we stopped at the scariest most secluded graveyard.  We felt our way around the
tiny family plot  and made sure we SHUT THE GATE on our way out to keep the spooky things in.  Awesome ride!

Any plans yet? Road bike or mountain bike?

I think our classic Boonton run might be good for tonight. There is a very secluded graveyard on the way. Mostly road w/ a few semi-smooth dirt paths thrown in.
