June 6th, 2015. Werewolf Weird New Jersey Ride.  Morris Plains Edition.  Bring your hiking shoes!

30 May

Back by popular demand, this months ride will visit Greystone Psychiatric Hospital.   It’s going to be demolished so we may not get many more chances to see it.

Let’s meet up in front of Arthur’s Tavern in Morris Plains and plan for a 7:00 pm departure.

On the first leg of the route we’ll warm up on the flats of Morris Plains and pay a visit to some weird and unique lawn ornaments.  The Morris Plains Bear will be the first stop.  This lawn decoration is usually dressed up according to the holiday.

The next stop will be a little bit scarier.   “The Grim Reaper” will welcome us.  This lawn ornament has been here for many years and also made the pages of Weird NJ magazine.

The featured stop will be the Kirkbridge Building.  Bring a camera; it may be one of the last times we get to see it.

You will also need to bring your climbing legs.  The last stop will be the 300 Steps.  We’ll lock up the bikes and take a short hike up this mountain.

The ride back to town is all downhill.  After ride food/drinks at Collins Pub.

Ride stats:  This ride will be aprox. 10 miles.  The first leg will be fairly flat.  Going to Greystone will climb gradually.  Going to the 300 steps will be mostly up.  All roads are paved.  This is a no drop ride with many stops.

Bring lights and your sense of adventure.

The Birdman.

Ride recap:

I think the Weird NJ theme rides are a hit.  Eight of us showed up for the ride and were not disapointed.   Here are some pics of the ride.  See you next ride.
